18th century Punch on the web

At the end of this year's North American Voyageur Council Fall Gathering I gave a presentation on North American puppetry in the 18th century. This presentation grew out of the process of reconstructing an 18th century Punch and Judy show as might have been seen in the eastern colonies of the time (obviously imported from England).

That process and a subsequent article I wrote for the Journal of the Early Americas are detailed in earlier blogs below.

After the Gathering presentation Georges Beaudry of Winnipeg Canada asked me to do a short bit on Punch on camera that he could share with friends, some of them puppeteers, back home. Here it is; enjoy!

Not much posting this year; too busy working. I'll post a link later to a "Punch and Judy" video Georges Beaudry made after a presentation on 18th century puppetry at this year's  North American Voyageur Council Fall Gathering. Stay tuned!
